John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights teamed up with Chantel Marie Buffalo to tell her story, “Iskwew’s Light.” It’s about a young woman who was disconnected from her mother in the foster care system. Big thanks to Rachel Lee and Kiona Ligtvoet for being apart of this project. This film is dedicated to a young indigenous girl who died in the child care system the film not only highlights the tragedy of the mistreatment of indigenous children in colonial systems but also highlights the resiliancy of indigenous women and girls.
