First Native American Film Screening at the 89th Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Science Linwood Dunn Theater November 10. 2017. On November 10th, 2017 Red Nation Celebration Institute and Festival screened “The Women in the Sand, narrated by Edward James Olmos, invited 75 Students and 20 inter-city youth which included Red Nation’s youth mentorship program including Academy Award nominated actors and actress, Native celebrities, AMPAS members, and Tribal leaders. The outcome was amazing. The Academy staff stated “It was a spiritual experience.”
