DIRECTORS STATEMENT

I wanted to honor what this group stands for: embracing the quiet, steady work of healing—how people come together around a sewing table, how a ribbon holds both grief and defiance in the lively tradition of tribal regalia and ribbon skirts, and how storytelling acts like medicine, passed down through generations of oral histories and visual legacies.

These women are whole, complicated people who laugh, grieve, and create, often all in the same breath. Their quilts and regalia aren’t just props—they’re extensions of their bodies, hands-on proof you can make beauty right where loss has been.

Rooted in Native traditions of storytelling through fabric and beadwork, these creations carry ancestral knowledge. Every stitch holds memory. Every pattern echoes resilience. Each piece makes ceremony, survival, and community visible.

DIRECTORS BIO

Margaux Towne is a dynamic award-winning entrepreneur and creative force in the video production industry. As the founder and producer/director at Moxie Film and Video, she has established herself as a trailblazer in the film and commercial video production
industry.

Towne’s journey began with a Communications degree from Florida State University. Her early career included acting at Universal Studios and working for prominent organizations like the Orlando Magic and CFN13.

Noticing a significant gender imbalance in the industry, she took the bold step of founding Moxie Film and Video, a woman-owned production company in 2016. This decision was driven by her belief that the industry had room for female-led creative enterprise and her desire to amplify women’s voices in a male-dominated
field.

Towne’s passion for storytelling is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Growing up in an extroverted Italian family, she developed a love for narrative and communication around the dinner table. This early experience shaped her understanding of how stories can create emotional connections and foster empathy.

Through Moxie Film and Video, Margaux Towne continues to craft compelling narratives, leveraging her understanding of interpersonal communication to create stories that resonate deeply with audiences. Her journey from Orlando to Omaha, and from actor to studio founder, exemplifies her adaptability, creativity, and unwavering commitment to storytelling and community building.
