During 12th Red Nation Film Festival (RNFF) November 2015, RNFF partnered with Hawkwing Inc in bringing out several Native Youth of ‘One Mind Youth Movement’ whom lead the inaugural Indigenous Women RISE Climate Change March and Native youth were invited to sing an honor song at RNCI Red Nation Awards Show. The Native youth who attended were from Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, which included Standing Rock Sioux Tribal member, Jasilyn Charger, Jasilea Rose Charger, Joesph White Eyes including others. The youth that were invited to lead Red Nation Film Festival’s Indigenous Women RISE Climate Change March in Santa Monica CA, had never seen the ocean or been on a plane and this was the first time they lead a climate change march and sang on a LIVE televised Native Awards Show RNCI Red Nation Awards. They were so inspired that when returning home to North Dakota, in April 2016 these same youth visited the first resistance camp of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests, Sacred Stone, they went on to lead a march to Washington D.C., run nearly 2000 miles to speak to the Army Corp of Engineers in DC. They inspired action WOKE the World to Standing Rock. This is the biggest social movement of our time. This is what happens when you make a commitment to youth and put time and energy in inspiring them to make change.
