Inuguiniq

Director: Olivia Ikey

Inuguiniq (making a whole human being) is a feature documentary following Inuk filmmaker Olivia Ikey and her daughter Navarana as they return to Olivia’s hometown in Nunavik, seeking to reconnect with Inuit traditions around bringing life into the world. As they retrace teachings nearly erased by colonization, their journey opens onto a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual, and communal practices that once anchored children to family, land, and identity. Olivia wonders: Is there a way to pass on connection without repeating the pain her family has carried for generations, and to reclaim a vision of childrearing rooted in collective care?
