A story of ancestral consciousness told in animation and live action.

Director Statement

“As a Fijian Filmmaker with a strong interest in Pacific indigenous stories, Ruci and Joanne Kaisila’s experience of growing up in Australia while maintaining their cultural connection to Fiji appealed to me. By drawing on my affinity with animation and indigenous storytelling, we were able to portray their story with a mix of live action depictions of their cultural Fijian practice and animated flashbacks to past family stories that helped inform them as Fijians today. My hope is that this Film will help other indigenous people feel seen as they struggle with questions of identity in an ever increasingly westernised world.”
