Directors Statement
To Juanita, April Eve, Kathy King, and everyone else who appeared in Labeled: The Missing, Murdered and Forgotten. Thank you for your courage, strength, and bravery in sharing your life with us. Your truths deserve to be told and I am truly grateful to help share those truths with the world.
This documentary was three years in the making. My hope is that it raises awareness and opens the public’s eyes to the atrocities and injustices happening to Indigenous Women and Girls. This is something that is happening in our own backyards and yet, the majority of the population is unaware. This is a call to action. Violence against Indigenous women and girls is preventable, and it starts with systemic changes across all systems and sectors. No more stolen sisters. No more turning a blind eye. There needs to be change. And I hope this film is the catalyst for that much needed change.
For Cara, Amber, and the 4000+ others missing and murdered. Let them not be forgotten.
