Only One Water

Our first medicine is the sacred water in our mother’s womb. As a collective body of creatives, we will embark on a journey to share Indigenous knowledge as water protectors and environmental stewards of this land, illustrating how these roles manifest on the big screen to raise global awareness for Mother Earth.

NOVEMBER 14, 2026 – ONLY ONE WATER

ECONOMIC DEVELOPEMENT ON INDIGENOUS LAND

On the closing day of the 31st RNIFF, November 14, 2026, RNCI will convene Hereditary Chiefs, Elders, Matriarchs, Culture Bearers & Indigenous Artists in Los Angeles for an urgent gathering dedicated to water, sovereignty, sacred places, climate, and the future of Mother Earth. Given the unprecedented fires and growing environmental threats across Turtle Island, this is an urgent conversation that cannot wait. Within many Indigenous traditions, Grandmothers hold profound responsibilities as keepers of cultural knowledge, family, community, and the sacred relationship with water. Alongside Hereditary Chiefs, Elders, Spiritual Leaders, and water protectors, their knowledge provides an essential perspective on how we understand and protect water for future generations. This gathering is not simply a panel or film festival program. It is an opportunity to place Indigenous leadership, ancestral knowledge, and lived experience at the center of a global conversation about water, climate, sovereignty, and environmental justice.

This is about more than an event. It is about creating a record.

A record of Indigenous leadership.

A record of ancestral knowledge.

A record of the voices protecting water.

A record of this critical moment in our shared environmental history.

And a record for generations yet to come.

There is Only One Water.

One Earth.

One Moon.

One Sun.

One Sky.

In this moment of unprecedented fires and accelerating environmental threats across

Turtle Island, the time to listen, document, act, and protect is now.

ONLY ONE WATER

Water Is Life. Sovereignty Is Essential. Our Future Depends on It.
