Dominique is a student at South Puget Sound Community College studying film production. She is a citizen of the Squaxin Island tribe, heavily integrated into the culture of her community. She heard of the local film community and was asked if she had a story to tell. The Basket Lady is a collaboration between her and the Olympia Film Collective, who came together to give Dominque her directorial debut.

DIRECTORS STATEMENT

I wanted to tell a modern story about an old Coast Salish legend. The Basket Lady use to scare me when I was told this story as a young girl. It made me not want to venture into the woods. But living in the PNW makes it nearly impossible to avoid it.
