The Sound

Director Jordan Riber

Following a spiritual calling, a group of misfit Salish teenagers journey the paths of place and self-discovery as they trace the water-ways and settlements of their Ancestors around the North Salish Sound in a traditional travel canoe. What is now the playground of the rich and shameless, scarred by the heedless occupation of White America, becomes their purposeful route of transformation to recover tradition, culture and a warrior identity they felt they’d lost. Navigating hurt and trauma, they uncover secrets, the Spirit of the Salish Sea, the bounty of the land, our playful kinship with all creatures, our connection to a sacred realm and to one another.
