DIRECTORS STATEMENT

Timber Lands is personal. I grew up in Oregon as a woman shaped by two intertwined truths: my family’s livelihood depended on the timber industry as it declined, and many of the people I love are Native, from tribes whose lands, cultures, and futures have been deeply harmed by that same industry. This film lives in that tension between survival and loss, tradition and exploitation.

I made Timber Lands to confront the complexity we’re often asked to simplify. Logging isn’t just an environmental issue; it’s a human one, a historical one, and a moral one. As current political forces once again threaten our forests, this story feels urgent. The forests raised me. They fed families, destroyed others, and still hold the answers if we’re willing to listen. This film is a call to remember who pays the real price when profit outweighs stewardship—and why protecting our lands now matters more than ever.
