DIRECTORS STATEMENT
I deeply believe in the power of cinema to rebuild connections — between generations, cultures, and territories. My work is grounded in listening and in narrative responsibility. I strive to create films that amplify voices too often unheard, particularly within Indigenous communities, and that open spaces for dialogue, healing, and transformation. For me, storytelling is a way to resist, to transmit, and to imagine a more just future.
I believe cinema can rebuild lost connections between generations, cultures, and territories. This film was born from my encounter with Algonquin multidisciplinary artist Josée Bourgeois, registered band member of Pikwakanagan, Ontario, whose journey of cultural reconnection with her son, whom she taught traditional dance, and her father, a survivor of the Sixties Scoop inspired me to tell their story. Through listening and responsibility, I seek to amplify Indigenous voices and create spaces for dialogue, healing, and transformation.
