Directors Statement

I wrote Voraz from a memory I had of two sentences Rachel McAdams said in a 1999 episode of The Famous Jett Jackson. Her character, who suffers from bulimia, asks, “What if I didn’t go to Harvard? What if I wasn’t the valedictorian? What would I have?” as the reason behind her eating disorder. Those lines rattled around my brain for almost two decades, and I wrote Voraz. This film is in both Spanish and English, representing communities of people who live Stateside and use English transactionally and their Native languages intimately. Voraz is ultimately a story of love being titanium through every tide and change of time. It features an original score from Seattle-area composer Timothy Richard Cox and was shot in Spokane.
